2011 Emerging Leaders Awards Dinner

On August 16th, the National Business & Disability Council sponsored a dinner at Niles Restaurant in honor of the 2011 Emerging Leaders. The interns shared their experiences at the workplace during their 8-10 week internship with some of NBDC’s leading companies.

All students in attendance expressed their gratitude for the privilege of working with highly respected companies across the country and look forward to utilizing the new skills and tools acquired from their summer work experience. NBDC would also like to thank all those dedicated professionals who served as mentors to the students this summer.

The dinner culminated with a surprise for the students. An unexpected scholarship from Verizon Communications granted each student an award for partial college tuition. Diana Vargas, Senior Diversity Consultant for Verizon’s Corporate Office was responsible for recommending the Emerging Leaders College Internship Program to Verizon Foundation, and we would like to say “Thank you” to Ms. Vargas and Verizon Communications for their generous support to the students this year!

Emerging Leader 2012 is now in session! We are accepting applications and reviewing resumes from students. NBDC members have been sent the Employer Template to review, complete and return to jtowles@abilitiesonline.org, as we begin the 2012 Emerging Leaders Summer Internship program!
