2006 Conference Recap

2006 Leadership Development Photograph

Thirteen members of the Emerging Leaders Class of 2006 were joined by three alumni from the Class of 2005 for the 2006 Leadership Development Conference hosted by Booz Allen Hamilton at its Herndon, Virginia office. The conference included sessions on leadership and career development along with frequent opportunities to network with peers and senior leadership from government agencies, non-profit disability organizations, and private industry. Interns from the Department of Labor's Workforce Recruitment Program, the Mitsubishi Electric America Foundation-AAPD Congressional Internship Program, and the Microsoft-AAPD Federal IT Internship Program joined the Emerging Leaders interns for select conference activities.

Highlights of the two and a half day event included:

Bullet Dinner with Booz Allen Vice President Charlie Zuhoski and a discussion on leadership
Bullet A behind the scenes tour of the National Museum of Natural History followed by a networking reception there with guests from government, non-profits, and the private sector
Bullet Private breakfast with John Kemp, co-founder of the American Association of People with Disabilities
Bullet A presentation and discussion led by the Class of 2006 before a group of executives from 20 corporations on challenges facing youth entering the private industry workforce.
